Dell Online - Premier
Problem
Dell, a major computer manufacturer, wanted to enhance the customer experience for
their largest business customers. Dell wanted customers to come to one place to
find their account contacts, list the different computer configurations their organization
could buy, track their purchase history, get customer support, and see asset management
information.
Solution
Cobb Information Systems, Inc. designed the pilot version of Premier Dell.com in
1997 as a dynamic web site for Dell's biggest customers to meet these needs. The
pilot was so successful, the project was expanded to include more and more customer
accounts. Today over 35,000 customers use the Premier Dell.com web site for all
their interaction with Dell. Over the years, CIS employees have led the project
and done development work on the system as it has gone through new versions for
scalability, internationalization, and technical upgrades.

Results
This project has been a huge success and has helped Dell become the number one computer
manufacturer in terms of market share. Dell currently has 35,000 customers that
use this system, and those customers' purchases account for a significant portion
of Dell's total revenue.
