Problem
JC Penney was using spreadsheets to track marketing campaigns and was only able
to track demand generated from those campaigns, not sales.
Solution
Cobb Information Systems, Inc. designed and built an online system for generating
new campaigns and creating a media tag for each set of marketing variables.
When online clicks came through, the media tag was recorded and demand could be
reported. But CIS went further and added the media tag to the online order
information, so sales generated from each campaign could also be reported.

Results
The media tag tool is used to measure the return on investment for online campaigns.
Decision makers can see which ads brought in the most sales, not just the most demand.
